hopefully next year (Feb 2010), i would have enough power to drag myself away very early from bed to witness and experience the Phil Hot Air Balloon. i mean, sayang naman.. sponsor kami, hello, tapos nasa Marketing pa ko.. tapos hindi ko man lang makita to kahit once? hello.
Hey Ms. Sponsor! You may want to negotiate for our photos for exhibit next year. I am thinking of selling my loots to Marquee.
Andiyan pa ba si Gelique? =)

“Some people talk the talk without walking the walk” says Tara FT Sering in her article in the December issue of Smile Magazine. Black Pencil Project was luckily one the featured story in the article entitled Cause & Effect, together with few individuals championing causes from education, women empowerment to alleviation of poverty and hunger. Read full article here.
Smile is a Singapore-based inflight magazine of Cebu Pacific Air, the second largest carrier of the Philippines.
The bi-monthly magazine is a showcase for all things that are great about the Philippines , providing independent and authoritative travel information for those who may not be familiar with the destination of their choice.
Thanks to Gary Buenaventura, Tara FT Sering and Lester Ledesma for the feature.
I feel sad for the entire humanity (especially for the Muslims) because the Maguindanao Massacre is out of political ambition and greed, and not, in any case, of religion. But for the simplest reason that the ‘massacre’ happened in Mindanao, a place known to be dominantly inhabited by Muslims and the fact that the main suspect is also a Muslim, it might be unavoidable/impossible for some people to stereotype, or as inappropriate as it is, become racist.
Having been exposed to Mindanao and to its selected indigent communities during my 2-year stint with a private NGO, I have met a lot of Muslims and have personally proven to myself that they are kind. So, it really breaks my heart when I hear people stereotype them or say negative things about them. Like they have no choice but to (somewhat) shoulder the faults of the few.
I remember the words of an elder Muslim I met in one of the Madrasah we visited. He said something like, “A person who inflicts violence or any kind of harm to his fellow is not a Muslim.”
After reading the news, I am canceling the Black Pencil Project Trip to North Cotabato.
While the entire country is celebrating the triumph of Efren Penaflorida, a 28- year old push cart educator for winning this years’ CNN Hero of the Year, a group of corporate foundations rallied for 1 Million Pencils for 1 Million Dreams with bunch of celebrities.
